APPROACH

Tonight Josephine opened first and was a huge success. Bar Elba followed in Summer 2017. The concept was based on Josephine's meglomaniac husband, Napoleon Bonaparte.

We took our story from his first exile in 1814. Drunk on power, Napoleon almost achieved his goal of European domination, but he got himself exiled to the Mediterranean island of Elba. He took 600 of his closest mates and his favourite horse, Marengo, with him. He stayed for 300 days.

We used the idea of correspondence (Napoleon and Josephine's letters to each other have been well documented) and the 'wish you were here' boast postcards for visual cues. Using vintage postcards of Elba, found on ebay, we built the story of Napoleon's exile in paradise.
